Dario Carratta (Gallipoli, 1988) lives and works in Rome. He uses painting to transfer dystopian visions onto canvas, animated by characters on the borderline between the physicality of reality and the evanescence of dreams. But the dreamlike character of his paintings is more murky than idyllic, dominated by a gloomy temperature that seems to evoke a post-human existentialism. his painting lends an unexpected lyricism, crystallinsing moments endowed with a paradoxical, psychic and grotesque grace. these are magical and perturbing happenings, where the unconscious takes over and  destabilises logical sense.
